I’m Michael A. James, an independent IT consultant with more than 35 years of experience helping businesses stay secure, efficient, and confident in their technology. Over the course of my career, I’ve supported organizations in healthcare, education, government, and professional services, and I’ve learned that most businesses want the same thing: practical, dependable IT support delivered by someone they can trust.
My work combines hands-on technical expertise with over four decades of teaching experience. I’ve taught networking, cybersecurity, systems administration, software development, and project management at colleges, technical schools, and in corporate environments. This background allows me to explain complex issues in ways that make sense and to guide clients through decisions with clarity instead of jargon.
A Long History of Supporting Organizations of All Sizes
Before returning home to Louisiana, I spent more than two decades leading Performance Consultants Group, Inc., a professional IT consulting firm I founded in 1999. As its president and CEO, I helped the company grow to support a wide range of clients across healthcare, education, government, nonprofit organizations, professional service firms, and small businesses throughout the United States.
Much of my work involved helping organizations modernize outdated systems, improve security, design and support network environments, manage servers and workstations, deploy software and cloud platforms, and solve complex technical problems with practical solutions. Over the years I worked directly with clients ranging from local small businesses to national organizations — including well-known brands and federal agencies — giving me a broad perspective on how to tailor technology to different environments.
After divesting the company in 2022 and relocating back to Louisiana in 2023, I chose to offer my experience in a more personal way. Today, clients work directly with me and benefit from the same depth of expertise I provided to larger organizations, but without the complexity or cost of a large IT consulting firm. My focus is simple: clear communication, steady guidance, and dependable support built around each client’s real-world needs.
